Everything Dark
by
Pamela K. Kinney
Night wind
Blowing,
Mist
ghosting the land.
Trees cloth in
gypsy colors,
At dark,
shift to shadows.
October witchery
Haunting,
Other-worldly.
The dead walk,
Undead rise,
Specter nightmares.
Monsters costume
as us;
We,
costume as fiends.
Trick,
Or treat?
Who cares?
October dressed
In autumn finery,
With magic,
Switches to
cemetery shroud.
The 31st is now
A knock at
the door.
Don’t answer!
Past candy time,
Everything dark
Now; it’s scary time!
