Horror Day of Action is a campaign to inspire all lovers of the horror genre to reach out to the world on Friday, October 13, 2006. Originally launched as an effort within the Horror Writers Association, the idea caught fire and spread to every area of horror, from haunted house operators to videogame designers to film makers. But the most important and basic ingredient of Horror Day is each fan's participation. On October 13, fans are asked to buy a horror book, give away a horror book, rent a horror video, read ghost stories to children, or talk to the local library, bookstore, video store, newspaper or radio station. The official site for Horror Day, along with suggestions for action, can be found at http://www.myspace.com/horrorday
So everyone, spread the word and do something really scary today. Have fun while you're doing it. I plan to watch a horror flick later today and finish a collection of horror stories today I will be reviewing on this blog Sunday, Slime After Slime by Mark McLaughlin. Next year, I plan to contact my local library or genre bookstore and maybe get something going. So celebrate, and be prepared to be scared, very scared.
