Supernatural Friday: Winter Haunt (Original Poem)

Enjoy my original ghostly poem and please share the link and not the poem, so that others can read it too.

Winter Haunt

By

Pamela K. Kinney

Winter’s chill deepens when night hits
A sky full of brilliant stars and a hovering moon
Draws you outside to view nature’s glowing glories
Peace fills you at the sights,
when suddenly something nearby catches your eye,
nearby the old oak tree a few feet away.
Not an owl or some other nightly predator,
No, it has a--no it is a shadow,
darker than the darkness itself.
Then it changes, becomes like mist
Except you know the night is clear,
and there’s no mist or fog anywhere.
“What is this strange thing,” you think,
drawing closer and you reach out,
and you see it too, reaches out
A chill much worse than the winter night offers
envelopes you, digs beneath your skin.
Eyes, a nose, a face appears within the glow!
The cold burrows deeper within you
until it finds your heart,
The steady beat of a drum grows louder, harder,
And you understand it’s fear pounding your heart like a hammer.
The need to bolt, to return to the warmth and solace of your home
Fills you like a meme:
Run. Run! RUN! Or it will get you! Go now!
But your feet remained as if glued to the ground,
The ghost moves and covers you completely.
Blind terror fills you, and yet, still, you cannot move.
When suddenly, the haunt vanishes, and the stillness that
held you, is gone.
Later, inside your house, safe and sound, still shaking,
a blanket wrapped around you for warmth and comfort,
You know that winter nights have more than you bargained for;

That the supernatural haunt them, too.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN (Original Poem, "Halloween Warning")

“Halloween Warning”
By
Pamela K. Kinney

Cool breeze of autumn
Darkness now earlier,
October days, leaves of color
Halloween looming with menace.
With this time come things,
Things unmentionable;
Unsettling and haunting.
White and gray wisps,
Fluttering in the night
Jack-o-lanterns with leering grins
Hear that howl?
Is it the neighbor’s dog?
Or something else?
Blood-chilling;
Downright frightening.
Phantoms, werewolves, ghouls,
Many other kinds of fiends. . .
RUN! HIDE! SAVE YOURSELVES!
Or welcome these harbingers of Samhain,

What’s a little fear among friends on Halloween?

Supernatural Friday: A Dark and Terrible Thing Is Coming!

"A Dark and Terrible Thing is Coming!"

It’s coming,

Like a terrible thing

It’s scary,

Dark, and with a toothy grin.

So you better beware,

Have everything ready

Decorate appropriately,

For the end is near.

Just remember one thing,

It only comes but once a year

Halloween, costumed in orange and black,

A mask upon its gruesome face

Ringing your doorbell with persistence,

Innocent child or demonic being

Feed it candy, just to be safe.

Trick or Treat.

I hoped you enjoyed this poem I wrote, "A Dark and Terrible Thing Is Coming!" It's an original poem and copyrighted to me, so do share the link with friends, not the poem, please. Thank you.

Supernatural Friday: Crimson Rush-original poem

Enjoy my original poem, "The Crimson Rush," but please do not copy it and paste it elsewhere, share the link instead so others may enjoy it.
Crimson Rush

By
Pamela K. Kinney

So much red;
Delicious, lip-smacking
Liquid,
I want it
No, I need it.
The fountain of life
Beneath the flesh,
Beckoning,
Taunting,
Calling me,
Until,
I can’t help it
But sink fang
Into the softness
Drinking;
Rush of crimson,
Of daylight and life.
Leaving behind
The husk,
Flying away
To sleep the sleep
Of the addicted.

Supernatural Friday: Haunting Summer Solstice Battle (Original Poem)

Summer solstice is coming. Do ghosts wait for the dark of night, no matter how late? Or do they appear as usual? This original poem that I wrote (please share the blog link with your friends as the poem is copyrighted) is about one Civil War battlefield's nightly haunt on the upcoming solstice.

Haunting Summer Solstice Battle
By
Pamela K. Kinney

Only 19% visible;
the solstice moon
looks down
on the battlefield.
Silence,
except for crickets
in the humid night.
From both sides
comes pale, wisps of
shades on horseback
and many on foot.
The noise of battle erupting.
Out of sync,
no reality
Blue against gray,
Union against Confederate,
cannons booming and guns blasting.
The ectoplasmic war began late,
All due to the
longest day
of the year
Dawn,
the cock crows
and phantoms
vanish with the sun.
Until the next night…

Supernatural Friday: (Original Poem) Day of Reckoning

Enjoy and do share the link for my original poem, but not the poem itself. It is copyrighted. Merry Krampus to all, and to all a frightful night.

“Day of Reckoning”
By
Pamela K. Kinney

The sixth of December,
A timely date
St. Nicholas’s day
But wait! It’s Krampusnacht, too!
It's a day of reckoning,
So, beware,
Naughty children everywhere!

Time to repent all your misdeeds,
Though it may be too late.
For St. Nicholas has his dark twin,
Krampus,
Fiend who carries a switch,
A basket strapped to his back,
Where bad children are
Caught and tossed into.

A horned being,
Shaggy goat hair all over,
Scary features; long tongue.
I plan to be good,
Will you?
Otherwise….
Krampus is going to get you!

Supernatural Friday: Stygian Fiends (Original Poem)

Enjoy this original poem I wrote for the next to the last Supernatural Friday of September 2017. Do not share the poem, but do share the link to friends, so they can read it too.

Stygian Fiends
By
Pamela K. Kinney

The world is
not as it
should appear.
There is a
hidden, dark truth.
Dead things
among us,
hunt us,
wanting us,
so, they can
feed upon
our souls.
Eat us,
Become us,
Their darkness
Overcoming our essence,
sucking us dry,
until, no more
do we exist.

Supernatural Friday: Passing the Infection (Original Poem)

Please, enjoy this horror poem. Share the link and not the poem with your friends. Thank you.

Passing the Infection

by

Pamela K. Kinney

Mouth full of jagged fangs
Bites; it hurts, oh it hurts!
My life is sucked away,
Crimson, wet, no life left
Something is exchanged
Corrupting me, molding me
Death is short,
Until, the next night,
Rising, a walking virus
Seeking, seeking, seeking
Biting, biting, biting
Undead infection.

Supernatural Friday: Original Poem: A Ghost By Any Other Name is a GHOST!

A Ghost By Any Other Name is a GHOST!
By
Pamela K. Kinney
(this poem is copyrighted, so just share the link please if you want people to read it).

Slithering through the ether
A breath of cool breeze,
Or something else.
It haunts corners of deserted buildings
A lost soul, or demonic thing.
Sometimes, they are like radio,
Repeating endlessly over and over.
Other times, they communicate.
Move objects and appear to us.
Ghosts, specters, phantoms,
Orbs, apparitions, reverent,
Haunt, shade, shadow person,
So many descriptions, so many names.
Doesn’t matter;
Haunting is what they do!
