Author Appearance at Monster Fest in Chesapeake, Va. October 6, 2018

Monster Fest returns for its 15th year. The one-day horror convention's free and open to the public, family friendly, with panels, costume contests (one adult, other for children), trick-or-treating at some of the vendors form the kids (must sign up first), and movies. It will be held as always at Chesapeake Central Library, 298 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, Virginia.
I'll have two tables-one for my books that Ill be selling and will sign, and the other for Paranormal World Seekers paranormal reality show--with its DVDs for sale, including the new Barons Pub of Suffolk, Virginia investigation for sale. And I will be moderating a panel on Frankenstein the novel by Mary Shelley, joined by two other writers. It happens at 4:00 p.m.

Author Appearance at Read Local at Chesapeake Central Library November 14, 2015

I will be at "Read Local" at the Chesapeake Central Library tomorrow, November 14th, from Noon to 4:00 p.m. I will be there for readers, selling and signings copies of my books (including a copy of The Witch and The Familiar and two copies of Shivers and Lace anthology I have a story included (Shivers and Lace premiering for the first time)--both by me under the pseudonym for paranormal romance and erotic horror, Sapphire Phelan). I will be there for  budding authors, talking about my process and how I gotten published by published, and encouraging.  I will also have some Paranormal World Seekers DVDs with me that I will be selling.

I have will have a giveaway concerning Shivers and Lace, plus Nightmares and Echoes 2 I have a new story included, Author Susan Schwartz will be selling these at her table, so bring a copy of N&E to me to sign my story and to enter the giveaway. If you win, you must be able to pick up the giveaway before I leave at 4 p.m. or at front desk of the library forbore they close at 5 p .m

Monster Fest will be this Saturday, October 4th at the Chesapeake Central Library, 298 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, Virginia 23322. I will be selling and signing my books there, plus selling Paranormal World Seekers DVDs (Williamsburg Ghost Hunt, Fort Magruder Ghost Hunt and Crawford) produced by AVA Productions. I will also be moderating the panel, "How Dark is Dark in Writing a Good Horror Story?" at 11 a.m.  I will also have a special giveaway you can enter for at my table, because of the release of my short story, "Weregoat" in Strangely Funny II anthology. You must be able to pick it up by 4 p.m when I draw the winner around 2 pm and call them by cell or home phone.

My Author Appearance at Monster Fest in Chesapeake, Virginia This Saturday

I'll be at Monster Fest this Saturday, October 5th, 20 am to 4:30 pm. It will be held at the Chesapeake Central Library, 298 Cedar Rd. Chesapeake, Virginia. The one-day mini horror convention is free and open to the public. adults and children. It's their tenth anniversary.
Besides selling and signing my books and Paranormal World Seeker DVDs, I will also be doing two panels, both at the BAY WINDOW AREA:

11 AM - Getting Your Scare On: Panel discussion of what types of techniques writers use to scare the reader

2 PM - Paranormal Investigating: From doing it to making it on DVD

As says on the website: Begun in 2003 by Rob Floyd and artist Clayton Sayre, Monster Fest is a day of vendors, panel discussions, special guests, a costume contest, trick-or-treating for all kids in costume, and a horror movie marathon!

All community-minded boils and ghouls should bring a donation for the FoodBank of Southeastern Virginia!

Then the library will close its doors at 5pm and re-open at 7pm. In honor of Monster Fest's 10th anniversary, for the double feature shock show we are showing two movies that we showed at the very first Monster Fest: "Frankenstein meets the Wolf Man" and "Horror of Dracula"
Before the movies, thrill to live music by "The Sons of Frankenstein"!!!

Catch Me at Fantasci in Chesapeake, Virginia This Saturday, August 3rd

I will be at Fantasci at the Chesapeake Central Library Saturday, August 3rd, selling and signing copies of my books--from fiction to all four nonfiction ghost books, even the erotic urban fantasy, "The Witch And The Familiar" by my pseudonym, Sapphire Phelan. The address is 298 Cedar Rd., Chesapeake, Virginia.

Fantasci will be from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. I will only be at my table, but there will be other authors, artists, vendors, panels, presentations, a costume contest, and two movies you can watch free at night after the daytime activities.

Monster Fest 2012

Friday the 13th gives people shivers and some say, bad luck too. But Saturday the 13th of October was a fun day for me at Monster Fest at the Chesapeake Central Library in Chesapeake, Virginia. It was a one-day convention, held from 10:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m.

The husband and I got up around 5:00 in the morning, packed the car, and set off. After a short stint on Route 10, then 295, we go onto 460, heading east. Dawn was slowly peeping in the horizon, more a pale golden color than splattering of oranges and rose. We stopped at a McDonald's on the way down for breakfast, eating it as we wanted to get there around 8 a.m to get my table set up. Which we did. 

At ten o'clock the library opened and people came in. Some were those checking in books, or looking for books to check out. But they checked my table, my author friend, Tina Glasneck's table and the other venders, too. I even sold a few books that I signed. When it was 11 a.m., I managed to get way from my table to do the panel both Tina Glasneck and I were to do. We had a few people, despite the early time, and I felt it went off well. I found time to go around and snap some photos--even of a spot where figures of famous movie monsters were set up. Bowman's Body (Bill Bowman) came by with his granddaughter where I gave him an author copy of Haunted Richmond II since he has a chapter in the No Paranormal Legends of Richmond. The rest of the day was spent in people stopping by, getting my books and getting them signed, and before both my husband (who was handling the credit sales) and I knew it, it was 4:00 p.m. He told me to check out the Pickleman Productions panel since I was an extra in the street scene with a closeup even for their upcoming Dillzilla movie, but I sneaked out after twenty minutes to find Bill packing the table as the head of the convention had went around asking all to begin packing up.

The car packed, we drove up to a nearby Mexican restaurant, to join friends for good food and chat--a great end to a great day.

Fantasci X-A Cool Convention on a Hot Day

Saturday, July 7, 2012 was hot, but inside the Chesapeake Central Library in Chespeake, Virginia, most of us kept cool during Fantasci X, the one-day science fiction, fantasy and horror convention the library has put on for ten years now.

My husband, Bill and I got up at 5:00 a.m. and by 5:30 were dressed and had the car packed with my books, and other things. After watering my plants as this was to be the hottest day this week at 104, with heat index way worse, we drove out of the driveway, on our way to Chespeake. We made a brief stop at a McDonalds on 450 for breakfast and use of their restroom, then we sped down the road on the last leg of our journey. By 8:00 a.m. we got to the library, unloaded the car, and parked it. By 8:30 a.m. my table was decorated and my books out. I took photos just before the public was allowed in at 10 a.m. then got behind my table and ready for seven hours of a fun time.

There was the Klingon jail, set up for charity where you could have your best friend, er enemy, arrested and released on bail, the money going to charity. The Klingons serenaded their prisoners to tunes of “Row, row your boat or the Barney the Purple Dinosaur “I Love You” theme. Sheer horror. The Umbrella Corporation was there to watch out for the zombie apocalypse, so the one-day convention could goon uninterrupted. Or maybe they were secretly infecting us all.

Tidewater alliance was there in their Star Wars costumes, while Star Trek groups paraded by. There were Legos, two incarnations of Doctor Who, artists with wonderful art, like my friend Susan L. Wickham, dealers selling cool items I never got time to purchase (next time, next time. . .), and authors with their books to buy and get signed. There were even panels on writing, alien food and what to do during a zombie apocalypse, and even lightsaber duels.

By 5:00 p.m. everyone was packed up and gone, and some headed over to a nearby Mexican restaurant for dinner. Some headed back to the library for movie night that started at eight, rest of us (like Bill and me) drove home in super hot, humid heat. It was a good day though.  See you next year, Fantasci!
